The European Commission warned Boeing and McDonnell Douglas Corp. that their planned merger could hurt competition in Europe. The commission said it would examine the deal closely but stopped short of saying it would oppose it. The commission resists large non-European Union mergers if the firms involved do significant business in the 15-nation EU.
