The park board Monday night scheduled a workshop for April 9 to gather information on the proposed development of 18 acres of district land as recreational facilities.
The vacant land on Aspen Drive, south of the district’s Community Center, is part of a 28-acre parcel the district chose to improve one piece at a time to spread the financial burden.
The Community Center, which has meeting rooms, gymnasiums and a swimming pool, was completed in 1993. Preliminary plans for the 18 acres include three baseball fields, a soccer field, a concession stand, jogging trails and parking lots.
“This is something we’ve always wanted to do with the space . . . ” said Kelli Garvanian, president of the park board.
