The Committee of the Whole has looked at a proposal to bring new radar and mobile sound-monitoring equipment to the village to track noise complaints related to air traffic from O’Hare International Airport.

Under the terms of the installment payment contract, S&V Solutions Inc. of Sycamore would provide one passive radar and six vans equipped to monitor sound levels from passing jetliners for about $496,000.

Bensenville officials said the village would be included as one of 12 communities reimbursed by the City of Chicago for such equipment. Village President John Geils said final approval by the Chicago City Council should make up to $600,000 available to reimburse Bensenville for the equipment.

The village could make the first of 84 payments of $7,000 for the equipment as soon as April 15.
