Community Consolidated School District 59 has been invited to participate in a statewide event to educate lawmakers, business leaders and residents about the need to have the latest technology in every Illinois classroom.
On April 16, several district staff members and two pupils will travel to Springfield for Tech 2000, a conference sponsored by a coalition of educators, businesses and the state legislature. Ravi Thakker, a 6th grader from Grove Junior High, and Jenna Hinaris, a 4th grader from Forest View/Ridge Elementary, will demonstrate how the district is using technology to enhance the curriculums at both Elk Grove Village schools. The conference is designed to show how technology can help students prepare themselves for future careers.
Using computer on-line video technology, the two pupils will broadcast information from the conference directly back to their schools. With this telecommunications link, pupils in Elk Grove Village will also have opportunities to ask questions and see the conference.
