Parents, staff, and community leaders in Crete-Monee School District 201-U continue to lead the charge for equitable school funding and property-tax relief in Illinois.
Once again, the south suburban group will board buses Wednesday and head for Springfield from Crete-Monee High School. The cost per person is $15.
According to school district officials, the “March for Fair School Funding” is necessary to convince state legislators in Springfield that property-tax relief and meaningful education reform, including adequate and equitable funding, are needed.
Crete-Monee participants in the 1997 lobbying effort will receive information to present when meeting with legislators.
Anyone driving to Springfield can join the group in front of the Capitol Building at 11 a.m. To register for the bus trip call 708-672-7430, 708-534-2383, 708-672-4053, 708-672-5839, or 708-672-4971.
