Florida authorities called off a search Saturday for a missing Woodstock teenager after police combed through an area where her boyfriend was found dead.
Investigators used a helicopter to search more than 60 miles of railroad tracks and pastures from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. looking for 16-year-old Wendy Von Huben.
“We’re satisfied she’s not out there or her remains are not out there,” said Marion County, Fla., Detective Sgt. Terry Bovaird.
The Woodstock High School freshman was last seen in the Chicago area on Feb. 23, when she ran away to Florida with her boyfriend, Jesse Lee Howell, 19, also of Woodstock.
Howell’s body was found in late March along railroad tracks in a rural area near Ocala, Fla. He had been fatally struck in the head.
