An Amtrak machinist killed a foreman and critically wounded two colleagues in a locomotive repair shop before being shot to death by police Thursday.
The shootings took place at the diesel maintenance building in Wilmington. Police identified the gunman as Richard Herr, 40, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., an Amtrak machinist since 1976. He was armed with two handguns, police said.
Shop foreman John M. Jenson, 41, was declared dead at the scene. The other victims — John Fedora, 38, of Secaine, Penn., a general foreman, and John Morrison Jr, 34, of Newark, Del., an electrician — were in critical condition at Christiana Medical Center.
