Three men died in fatal shootings and woman was found strangled in a South Side garage in weekend violence in Chicago.

Eric Walker, 31, of the 4200 block of West Carroll Avenue, was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon at the Chicago Housing Authority’s Henry Horner Homes on the Near West Side.

Police believe the gunman had stolen money and drugs from Walker’s gang and had heard the gang was coming after him, according to Harrison Area police. So the gunman “sees the victim on the CHA grounds and takes the initiative,” said Harrison Area Sgt. Mark Vail.

Police arrested a suspect Sunday night and planned to charge him with first-degree murder.

In the second fatal shooting, police on Sunday were investigating the case of a North Side man who was killed during an apparent struggle over jewelry in a Northwest Side laundry.

Eric Hippolito, 21, of the 2800 block of North Elston Avenue, died Saturday night at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Hippolito was doing laundry at Super Coin Wash, 2128 N. Western Ave., at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday when a man grabbed at Hippolito’s gold neck chain, according to Grand Central Area police. Hippolito was shot as he struggled with the man, police said.

In the third fatal shooting, a 28-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder Sunday night in an incident motivated by jealousy over a woman, police said.

Santos Ortiz, of 1756 W. 35th St., was charged in the death of Albert Godinez, 28, of the 3600 block of South Wolcott Avenue, said Wentworth Area Sgt. Jack Ridges.

In the fourth weekend homicide, an autopsy Sunday showed that a South Side woman who was found dead in a garage only three blocks from her home Saturday night had been strangled.

Gytonne Marsh, 28, of the 2300 block of West 71st Street, was found on the floor of a garage at 2621 W. 71st St., according to Wentworth Area police.
