Police said they are searching for one or more people who have been shooting out car windows with either a BB or pellet gun last week, police said.

More than 70 cars have been damaged. On April 7 up to 30 cars were hit. The following night, an another 30 cars were damaged and over the weekend 10 more cars were damaged from BBs.

There appears to be no pattern to the types of cars shot at, according to police reports. The cars range from a 1974 Chevrolet pickup to a 1997 Cadillac DeVille. Police suspect several different groups of individuals caused the damage, said Elgin police Lt. David Buck.

Police said there was nothing stolen from the cars and there were no witnesses to the shootings, police said.
