A Pace shuttle bus carrying a disabled man collided at a three-way intersection in Joliet with a car driven by an 82-year-old Joliet man, killing his wife, police said Wednesday.
Pauline Sefcik, 78, of the 800 block of Chase Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9:16 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet. Her husband, Peter, was reported in fair condition at Silver Cross Hospital. .
The Sefciks were westbound on Taylor Street and halted for a stop sign where U.S. Highway 30 (Plainfield Road) intersects with Taylor and Nicholson Streets, said Joliet Police Sgt. Richard Fonck.
Peter Sefcik pulled out in front of the southeast-bound bus, which did not have a stop sign.
The bus driver and her passenger were not injured.
