The Buffalo Grove Plan Commission has approved a 13-lot, single-family home subdivision at the northwest corner of Farrington Drive and Illinois Highway 83.

Representatives of the developer, Aspen Homes, said Wednesday night that development of the 8-acre plot could begin by June.

If approved by the full Village Board, 5 acres would be used for house lots. The remaining 3 acres would be used for a detention pond and a flood plain, the developers said.

Plan Commission Chairman Stephen Goldspiel said it was the consensus of the commission that the developer should not proceed with a proposed permanent sign marking the development.

The developers responded that they had no problems with erecting a temporary sign that would be removed after the 13 properties are sold.

In a related issue, Goldspiel said, the Village Board decided not to pursue an idea suggested by neighbors of the proposed development calling for extending Farrington east to connect to Illinois Highway 83. The board’s traffic consultant recommended against the idea.
