The Township Board has voted to form a 9-member committee whose job would be to develop stategies for what they fear may eventually come–annexation by Lockport.

Supervisor Greg Fisch said appointments would be made by next week. He said the committee would be established for one year and report to the Township Board.

About 50 people attended Wednesday’s meeting, including Plan Commission member Ben Entwistle. He supported the committee’s formation but emphasized the need for the township to act proactively to resist annexation attempts.

“I would interpret this as a defensive position,” he said. “I wonder if the board shouldn’t consider something more aggressive than this.”
