Cecelia M. Grebinoski, 69, of Lombard, a retired teacher in Lombard Elementary School District 44 for 25 years, died Sunday in her home.

Primarily a 3rd-grade teacher, Mrs. Grebinoski was at Hammerschmidt School from 1956 until 1981, and at Park View School from 1981 until her retirement in 1989. She was a Lombard resident for 41 years.

“She was a top-notch teacher, a dedicated and caring professional,” said John Meyer, the district’s assistant superintendent for instruction.

Mrs. Grebinoski was a teacher in Holdingford, Minn., from 1946 until 1956. She earned her associate’s and bachelor of science degrees from St. Cloud Teachers College, St. Cloud, Minn., in 1955, and a master’s degree in education from National College of Education in Evanston, now called National Louis University, in 1959.

Mrs. Grebinoski also attended Northern Illinois University and the University of Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred C.; a sister; and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard.
