The Village of Frankfort is seeking a $41,000 construction grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, which the village will match, for the resurfacing of Ontario Street.
The Village Board recently approved a preliminary construction agreement and matching grant proposal for the project.
“This grant will be of great benefit to the village,” said Trustee Dick Reyburn before the vote. “Ontario Street was on our list of streets (to redo) in the next few years.”
The project also will include new curbs and gutters.
Reyburn said the project will coincide with two Frankfort companies’ plans to lengthen Ontario Street by 1,300 feet.
