Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Riding into the sunset and fading out of our cultural history was never going to happen with black cowboys. Ropin’, shootin’ pioneers such as Nat Love and Herb Jeffries made sure of that by starting a series of African-American rodeos that continue even now. So saddle up, Chicago, because the Dodge Thyrl Latting Rodeo Spectacular, filled with bucking broncos and daring feats, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the International Amphitheatre, 42nd and Halsted Streets. Tickets range from $12 to $25 and can be purchased at the Amphitheatre box office or by calling 312-559-1212.
