The State Department says it has taken security measures after being tipped off about a possible threat to its diplomatic missions in Pakistan.

Department spokesman James Foley said Friday in Washington that he had no details of the threat or of the measures taken in response.

“We received some information regarding a possible threat to our diplomatic missions in Pakistan,” Foley told a news briefing.

“We take precautions to counter (such) threats, to ensure the safety of our personnel and the security of our facilities. That’s what we’ve done today in Pakistan.”

In January, the State Department warned Americans abroad to look out for their safety after a Pakistani, Mir Aimal Kasi, was sentenced to death in Virginia for killing two Central Intelligence Agency employees.
