A Hampshire man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after police stopped his car early Tuesday for allegedly weaving and striking a curb about 1:20 a.m. near Lake-Cook and McHenry Roads, police said. An officer who stopped the 1987 Dodge pickup said he found a loaded .38-caliber handgun in an open glove compartment inside the vehicle. Wayne Vaisvil, 38, was also charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, driving without insurance and driving without a seat belt, police said.
