The Northbrook-based consulting firm of Thompson Dyke & Associates was awarded the task of updating the village’s comprehensive plan and land-use map Thursday night, beating out Rolf Campbell & Associates of Lake Bluff and the Davenport Group of McHenry for the contract.

The three firms had presented their credentials to the board last month and offered proposals on the scope of the project and the work to be performed.

In moving to accept the Thompson Dyke proposal at an estimated cost of $47,300, Trustee Charlie Becker said it “most positively reflects the direction of this community.” His motion was approved unanimously.

Highlights of Thompson Dyke’s 18-page proposal include studying existing taxing districts and land uses, evaluating local demographics, suggesting development guidelines for the Illinois Highway 47 corridor and ensuring that any future planning objectives conform to state and regional regulations.

The study’s recommendations are intended to serve as a primary planning tool through 2020 and will take about 13 months to complete.
