Amie Elizabeth Titus, 21, of St. Charles died Saturday in St. Louis from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
Miss Titus was preparing to begin her senior year as a business/marketing student this fall at Western Illinois University in Macomb.
This summer she worked as an intern at the Sears home office in Hoffman Estates, where “she was flourishing,” according to her father, Steve Titus, who works in the Sears Hoffman Estates office.
“She was one of those rare kids who excel at everything they do,” he said. “She had terrific grades.”
She had been nominated by her professors to serve on the Judicial Board, which helps determine discipline measures for students who commit infractions on campus, her father said.
Born in Indianapolis, Miss Titus was a 1995 graduate of St. Charles High School, where she was part of the St. Charles Drill Team for two years.
During her freshman and sophomore years in college she was a member of the Wranglers pompom squad, and as a sophomore was elected co-captain.
Before moving to the St. Charles area, Miss Titus lived with family in the Minneapolis area and went on mission trips to Mexico.
She also traveled twice to the Dominican Republic with her youth group from the First Baptist Church of Geneva.
Miss Titus was treasurer of the Delta Zeta sorority.
Besides her father, survivors include her mother, Terri; a brother, Matt; a sister, Melissa; paternal grandparents, Frank and Gerry Titus; and maternal grandmother, Lucille Meer.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. 3rd St., St. Charles. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Geneva, 2300 South St., Geneva.
