A 25-year-old Hanover Park man was recovering Monday after being shot and beaten outside a Schaumburg apartment complex.
The victim, whose name was not released, was in fair condition at Columbia Hoffman Estates Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
Schaumburg police said they were interviewing several people who may have witnessed or been involved in the attack, which occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Pennview Lane.
Police said the victim went to the apartment complex to visit his estranged wife and children. The meeting had been prearranged between the couple, police said.
Three men confronted the man as he entered the foyer. A verbal altercation erupted and turned into a pushing and shoving match, police said.
The four men made their way outside, where one of the attackers shot the victim once in the hip. The other two attackers beat the victim with a baseball bat and golf club, police said.
The attackers then fled.
Police would not say what motivated the attack or whether the victim or his estranged wife knew the three men.
