A Spanish-language video depicting a fictional account of the result of being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol premiered Wednesday in Chicago in the John Marshall Law School, 315 S. Plymouth Ct.
The video “Que Precio Tiene La Vida?” (“What is the Price of Life?”) was produced by the Circuit Court of Cook County as part of the Local Community Traffic Safety Initiative, an educational program that focuses on DUI prevention. An English version of the video, “Wasted,” was nominated for a national award.
The Spanish version is intended to better educate members of the Hispanic community on the consequences of DUI and the legal rights of suspects.
In the video, viewers follow a fictional character who gets drunk at a family party and later is stopped by police for erratic driving while heading home with his wife and children. The video shadows the man through his ensuing ordeals in court.
The video will be distributed to schools and community groups. For more information, call 312-822-3530.
