The downtown Chicago office vacancy rate dropped in the third quarter to a 10-year low of 10.7 percent from 11.1 percent in the previous quarter and 13.9 percent a year earlier, according to CB Richard Ellis, a commercial real estate firm. The rate reflects net absorption of 586,000 square feet in the quarter and 2.8 million square feet since the start of the year.
