The newly formed Senior Citizens Advisory Committee got a look at a draft survey Monday night that will be distributed to seniors next year to determine whether support could be mustered for a senior citizens center in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake Park District Commissioner Candy Reedy, liaison to the committee, told members that the Park District could provide space in Park Place, the site of the former American Legion Hall at 406 W. Woodstock St., where the senior committee met Monday.

Reedy said a senior center at Park Place could be a daily destination where seniors might go for “coffee, doughnuts and lunch.” She added that Park Place would continue to be used by other groups.

“This is a yet-to-be-discovered gem,” advisory committee chairman Bill Shank said.
