Edward W. Stadick, 68, a retired draftsman and engineer who spent 36 years with Commonwealth Edison Co., died Monday, Jan 1, in his Lombard home. Born in Chicago and raised on the North Side, Mr. Stadick was a member of Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on the church’s missions committee. Mr. Stadick also served on the board of directors of Lydia Home Association in Chicago. “He was a man deeply committed to children and grandchildren,” said his son, Edward. Mr. Stadick graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago, earned an associate’s degree from North Park College and continued his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology. A tinkerer around the house, Mr. Stadick also enjoyed reading and travel. “He knew what he had to do and did it without pomp. That’s the kind of man he was,” his son said. Mr. Stadick also is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeanette May; another son, William; two daughters, Sharon May Taylor and Rebecca Ann Stadick; 11 grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton.
