College football: Hawaii football coach June Jones remained in guarded condition Saturday and is expected to be hospitalized for several weeks after a car accident.
Doctors in Honolulu are optimistic about chances for a full recovery. The 48-year-old coach has regained consciousness and is moving his arms and legs.
Jones was nodding in response to questions and had started to open his eyes.
Jones hasn’t been able to explain what caused his car to veer off a freeway and crash into a concrete pillar.
Pro football: Michael Vick and Drew Brees, regarded as the top two quarterbacks in this year’s NFL draft, are playing different roles at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.
Vick, the Virginia Tech sophomore almost sure to be the top pick in April’s draft, has decided he won’t go through the drills or work out for the scouts and coaches.
They will have to travel to Blacksburg, Va. on March 22 for a private workout set up by Vick’s agents.
Brees will do everything he is asked to do in hopes of showing the NFL his talents during the combine.
