For more than a decade the Schaumburg Park District has hosted a morning of fun to bring families and neighbors together for the winter holiday season.
This year’s Holiday Wonderland Festival, with games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus, will take place Saturday
“It is an opportunity for families to do something in the community,” said Laura Gallagher, the district’s special events supervisor. “There are a lot of activities for the children to enjoy.”
Gallagher expects more than 1,000 people to attend the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 80 Park District employees and volunteers, including honor students from Conant High School and local Girl Scouts, will help to run the activities.
For a single admission price, participants will be able to enjoy indoor inflatable rides, craft and candy workshops, a balloon artist and face painting. Live entertainment will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the Schaumburg Park District Dance Troupe. At 11:30 a.m. the Senior Glee Club will perform, followed by pianist Mary Drobnik at noon. The entertainment will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with a singalong.
Admission is $5. The Community Recreation Center is located at 505 Springinsguth Rd. For more information, call 847-490-7020.
