Candace Parker, Naperville Central: The sophomore scored a personal-best 38 points in a 71-52 defeat of West Aurora to break her school’s 20-year-old career scoring record of 1,258.
BOYS BOWLING
Jawann Franks, Morgan Park: Won the Public League title with a 300 game and 781 series.
GIRLS BOWLING
Erin Corbett, Rich South: Placed ninth while leading her squad to a second-place finish in the state tournament.
Theresa Wimberley, Lake Park: Finished fourth in the state with a 12-game pin total of 2,471.
GIRLS GYMNASTICS
Kate Kuchel, Stevenson: Won the all-around and three events as her squad won its own sectional.
WRESTLING
Mike Pelkowski, Argo: The 215-pounder ran his record to 35-0 by winning the Lyons sectional.
Kevin Kennedy, Providence: The senior 135-pounder improved to 39-1 with his third sectional title.
Matt Wellner, Plainfield: Won the Plainfield sectional at 119 pounds to run his record to 39-3.
