Kane County Forest Preserve officials recommended Friday that the SciTech Hands-On Museum be awarded a $135,000 grant from the Fox River Trust Fund to pay for landscaping the museum’s outdoor science park.
Dedicated in October 2000 on Aurora’s Stolp Island in the Fox River, the park allows visitors to explore scientific topics and use interactive outdoor exhibits.
The $295,000 improvement project would be completely paid for if the grant were awarded, said Ronen Mir, SciTech’s executive director.
The museum opened in 1990 in the old post office at 18 W. Benton St.
Final approval of the grant is expected March 12.
