Police have arrested a couple in connection with the kidnapping last month of the nation’s central bank president.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Arevalo identified the suspects as Santiago Veliz and his wife, Mayra Judith Mayen Lopez. Authorities arrested them at their Guatemala City home and recovered some of the ransom money, said Atty. Gen. Adolfo Gonzalez Rodas.

Banker Lizardo Sosa was kidnapped Feb. 25 in the capital. He was freed three days later after a ransom was paid.
