Anna Clifford Greene, age 87, of Durand, IL, died 4:35 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 28, 1914 in Newton Upper Falls, MA. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Ivanetta, nee Warren, Smith. Lived 26 years in Durand coming here from Northbrook, IL. Married to Richard Clifford for 36 years, he passed away Jan. 4, 1974. She later married Ellis Greene on Jan. 12, 1980, he passed away April 20, 1999. She started teaching music in rural Maine then in Maywood and Glenview, IL public schools for many years and was a substitute teacher for Durand Schools for many years. Member of Durand United Methodist Church, Esther Circle, Thursday Morning Bible Study, Organist and youth choir director, active in the Lake Summerset Association Committees. Lifelong member of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity. Graduated from Boston University-Class of 1936. Survivors include sons David (Jean) Clifford of Lake Summerset, Paul (Alice) Clifford of Romeoville, IL, Bill (Cricket) Clifford of Lake Bluff, IL, Ken (Becky) Greene of Durand and daughter Karen (Dwayne) Proctor of Durand; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Josephine Danskin of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews. Preceded by parents; one daughter Sylvia Kunreuther; and one grandson Douglas William Clifford. Services at 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002 in Durand United Methodist Church with Dr. John Alan Boryk pastor of the church officiating. Burial Memorial Estates Cemetery, North Lake Village, IL. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Durand United Methodist Church or to the Cornerstone Foursquare Church of Durand.
