The 41-year-old woman whose body was found in the Chicago River on Tuesday was reported missing by her family almost a month ago, officials said.
A passerby spotted the body of Veronica Vargas of the 1700 block of North Paulina Street under the Randolph Street bridge on Wacker Drive, police said.
Vargas lived with her mother, Soledad, who told police she last saw her daughter Feb. 27. The missing person report was filed March 2 after family members realized Vargas had left the house without her medication, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled Wednesday that Vargas had drowned.
