The Citizens Advisory Council has approved a boundary plan for a new middle school in South Elgin.
Pupils from Clinton, Fox Meadow and Willard Elementary Schools in South Elgin would attend the new school under the plan supported Wednesday by the advisory council’s Enrollment and Facilities Committee of Elgin-based School District 46.
The school is scheduled to open at the start of the 2004-2005 school year at 1699 Raymond St.
Pupils from Garfield Elementary in Elgin and Nature Ridge Elementary in Bartlett also would attend the new middle school, as would Wayne Elementary pupils who live west of Illinois Highway 59 and Huff Elementary pupils south of U.S. Highway 20. Pupils of the new elementary school C at Naperville and Bartlett Roads in Bartlett also would attend the new middle school.
The panel also approved new boundaries for Larsen Middle School in Elgin, Eastview Middle School in Bartlett and Canton Middle School in Streamwood. About 15 Oakhill Elementary pupils who live south of Illinois Highway 19 in Streamwood would attend Tefft Middle School instead of Canton. Bartlett Elementary pupils living in the Walnut Hills subdivision north of U.S. 20 in Bartlett would attend Tefft instead of Eastview Middle School.
The committee’s enrollment projections and boundary plan will go to the advisory council’s executive committee Thursday, the general committee May 9 and the school board May 20.
