DuPage Animal Control, the Naperville Humane Society and the Hinsdale Humane Society will team up May 4 for a Tri-Shelter Expo to be held at DuPage Animal Control, 120 N. County Farm Rd. Expo hours will be 1 to 4 p.m.
Dogs will be welcome at the free event, a kickoff for Be Kind to Animals Week.
The Expo will feature educational booths, and some on-site pet adoptions will be available. Participants also will have the opportunity to view photos of animals available at the shelters and find out more about shelter services and programs.
Other observances of Be Kind to Animals Week, celebrated May 5-11, include a blessing of the animals at 1 p.m. May 5 in the Hinsdale Humane Society, 22 N. Elm St. in Hinsdale.
After the blessing ceremony, the shelter will hold open house until 4 p.m. to show off its newly renovated dog kennels. The shelter also will be collecting donations of pet food earmarked for low-income pet owners in the western suburbs.
