Esteban Martinez, 39, of the 1000 block of Wheeling Road, was arrested Wednesday after he threatened and then spit on a police officer who told him he would receive tickets for letting his 100-pound dog run loose in his neighborhood, police said. Martinez was charged with battery, aggravated assault and resisting arrest, police said. He was also ticketed for letting his dog stray and for having no valid dog tags, police said. Martinez was being held Thursday and was expected to appear in bond court Friday, police said.
