Kudos to Paderewski Learning Academy on Chicago’s West Side. The academy’s 7th- and 8th-graders won the city-wide Lawry’s Foods’ Menu for Success competition, which asked schools to create a restaurant concept. Their winning idea: Dine-Pic-It-Out, a family restaurant that dishes up a dining area, picnic area and takeout service. The school won $500, as well as a mock “grand opening” lunch last week, which showed off the concept.

Hartigan Elementary School won second place; honorable mention went to Dewey Academy, Overton Elementary School and Ruggles Elementary School.
