– Martin Geers, a spokesman for DaimlerChrysler Services, the carmaker’s lending arm, said a statement attributed to him in a story in the March 10 Business section on a lending bias suit against Chrysler Group was misleading. In saying, “Yes, it’s possible,” Geers said he was answering a question about whether the carmaker can flag a dealership so all of its loan applications will come under scrutiny, rather than whether the carmaker can screen applications based on race, a process known as redlining.
