The National Merit Scholarship Corp. of Evanston announced the college-sponsored winners for its 2003 National Merit Scholarship Awards on Wednesday. Winners are selected from each state, including 60 from the Chicago area.
Additional recipients of the college-sponsored awards–which provide between $500 and $2,000 annually and are renewable for up to four years–will be announced July 14. Winners are chosen from a pool of 16,000 semifinalists who were selected on the basis of standardized test scores.
Earlier this year, winners were announced for corporate-sponsored scholarships and the National Merit $2,500 Scholarships.
