Got a nose for news, we asked? And, boy, did you answer.
More than 375 kids ages 8 to 15 entered our recent KidNews Scoop Trooper search, writing to tell us why they would make excellent scoopers.
Talk about tough decisions. We clearly had our work cut out for us: to choose eight entrants to be on the KidNews team.
Each of the respondents offered really good reasons why he or she should be picked–from natural curiousity and a love of journalism to an interest in political and global issues and a desire to speak for the “uncool” kids. Not to mention all your diverse backrounds (world travelers to junior ecologists) and varied interests (Pokemon to Avril Lavigne).
Because you overwhelmed us with your thoughtful and thought-provoking responses, we decided we couldn’t pick just eight of you. So we selected 16 kids–eight junior and eight senior Scoop Troopers.
These 16 will be the eyes and ears of Kidnews for the next year, giving us the lowdown on what is happening in your world.
Thanks to all of you who entered our search–and a special gracias to all who sent essays and drawings.
