Two men were killed in Chicago shootings early Wednesday, authorities said.
Melvin Dean, 28, and Gerald Lauderdale, 36, both of Chicago, were killed Wednesday in separate incidents.
Dean was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m. Wednesday in Stroger Hospital, police spokesman Laura Kubiak said. Lauderdale was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, police spokesman Tom Donegan said.
Dean, of the 4500 block of South Vincennes Avenue, was shot around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on East 47th Street, police said. Officers responding to the gunshots found Dean lying on the sidewalk with wounds to the chest and abdomen, police said.
Lauderdale, of the 1700 block of West 91st Street, and another man were walking in the 9100 block of South Paulina Street around 1 a.m. when they were approached by three men who opened fire, police said.
Officers found Lauderdale on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. The other man was unhurt.
