Sparrow
Sparrow
Sparrow began life as a neo-classical chamber orchestra, led by former Zumpano drummer Jason Zumpano. But the Vancouver native never gave up on his love of pop music, and eventually (newly honed piano skills at the ready) rewrote his compositions as more traditional songs. Sparrow’s self-titled debut does retain some vestigial elements of orchestration, but by and large, Zumpano keeps things small and manageable on the short but sweet disc.
Take away: Piano pop
