The Darkness

Permission to Land

British pomp-rock band The Darkness is being hailed in some corners as THE band of the moment for its snarky, ’80s hair-band style. With flamboyant costumes, fleet-fingered guitar solos and a lead singer some are calling the second coming of Queen’s Freddie Mercury thanks to his high vocal range, The Darkness is a cause for celebration in these days of sullen and boring American sludge rockers such as Limp Bizkit. But based on the group’s debut CD, even in the ’80s, the band would have been relegated to second-tier status.
