Six decades ago I was baptized a Catholic and anointed a Cubs fan. Now my children and grandchildren continue the family tradition. Yes, the Game 7 loss hurt deeply and it’s still difficult to accept. But let’s look at the positive side: Despite injuries and controversies, it was one great season, a terrific season. At game time we could put aside the world’s woes for a few hours and cheer, laugh and have fun. Isn’t that something for which to be thankful?

So to Dusty Baker and the whole team I tip my well-worn Cubs cap and say: “Thanks for the memories.”
