“Yanni: Live at the Acropolis,” “Riverdance,” “Suze Orman: The Courage to be Rich.” It’s fundraising time again at PBS and many loyal viewers aren’t happy, saying the specials dumb down the network. Well, the Tempo Subcommittee on Infomercials agrees and has some suggestions that will appeal to the highbrow fans and keep those much-needed pledges pouring in:

– “Ken Burns: Live in the Microfiche Room at the New York Public Library.”

– “The Doo-Wop Messiah.”

– “MacNeil-Lehrer Ballroom Dancing Reunion Special.”

– “National Geographic Explorer: The Mystery of John Tesh’s Forelock.”

– “Deepak Chopra: Unleash Your Inner Snob.”

– “P.O.V.: My Overrated Brother — A Documentary Film by Ric Burns.”

– “Mystery! The Case of the Dismembered Public Television Freeloader.”
