Playoff games in New England. Book it.
With a win on the road against the Jets, the Patriots earn a first round bye. Add a win over the Bills in the finale and the Pats will have homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
That should be enough to get Bill Belichick’s team to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.
What’s most amazing is that the Patriots win while lacking so much on offense. How do they make up for it? Their defense.
Behind it all is Belichick.
He knows how to prepare his players and deflects any praise. “I think the team goes out there with high goals every week and some weeks the performance is better than others,” Belichick said.
SILVER BULLETS
– Brett Favre had his best game of the season in Green Bay’s 38-21 win over San Diego. He completed 23-of-33 passes for 278 yards, four TD passes and one interception.
– The unsung hero in the Bengals’ rise to playoff contention is right tackle Willie Anderson. In Cincinnati’s 41-38 win over San Francisco, Anderson held Niner defensive end John Engelberger to one assist.
– Joe Horn may be one of the biggest egomaniacs in all of sports, but his 9 catches for 133 yards and four TDs against the Giants spoke volumes.
