A drug dealer who helped plot the murder of a county sheriff was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Judge Paul Braden followed a jury’s recommendation in sentencing Kenneth White, 57, accused in the murder of Pulaski County Sheriff Sam Catron.

Catron, 48, was shot after delivering a re-election campaign speech on April 13, 2002.

Another defendant, Jeff Morris, said White wanted Catron out of the way so White could deal drugs without interference.
