James Bradshaw Osgood, 71, Gay and Human Rights Activist, died Christmas Day, 2003. Beloved life partner of 47 years to the late Edward Louzao; dearest brother of Charles F. (Eugenia) Osgood of Washington, DC. Survived by many cousins and friends. Special thanks to Raymond Plummer for his outstanding and exceptional care. University of Chicago Class of ’54; MLS University of Pittsburgh MLS Class of ’62. A former translater/interpreter for the United Nations, Jim retired as a librarian from Kennedy-King College in 1994. A past President of Mattachine Midwest, member of 57th Street Friends Meeting (Quakers) and a longtime Buddhist, Jim was involved in groups opposing the death penalty, supporting draft resistance during the Vietnam War era, peace and antiwar movements, Tibetan human rights and the Moratorium, amongst others. Family and friends to gather Monday, Jan. 19, 12 noon (service begins at 12:30 p.m.) in the Atrium Room of Ann Sather’s Restaurant, 929 W. Belmont. Burial of cremains next to Ed Louzao at Graceland Cemetery later this spring.
