Reinhold Groh, of Barrington Hills. Funeral Services for Reinhold Groh, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of Services. The Rev. Robert Moll will officiate. Born Oct. 3, 1915 in Chicago, the son of Philipp and Elizabeth, nee Jesse, he passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 at his home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. Reinhold was a graduate of Northwestern University, a C.P.A. and a retired partner in the international accounting firm of KPMG. During his long career, Mr. Groh practiced as a tax and audit partner, authored numerous published journal articles, lectured on taxes at Tulane and other universities, served on several boards of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Illinois Society of CPA’s and served as trustee for many of his former clients. Mr. Groh served as a member of Gov. Ogilvie’s Economic Council and was Chairman of the Board of American Rivet Company in Franklin Park. Mr. Groh, a diabetic since the age of 13, was an inspiration to many stricken with this debilitating disease. After having dropped out of high school due to his diabetes, he put himself through night classes at high school and college. He became a C.P.A. in 1943 and in 1953 formed his own C.P.A. firm, Groh, Gough and Company, later merging with KPMG in 1976. He was a man whose generosity and kindness have touched many. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lucille “Pat”, nee Clarke; children, Nora Groh (Scott) McKinley of Janesville, WI, Paul (Cathlynn) Groh of Denver, CO and Anne Groh (John) Beckman of Barrington; grandchildren, Anne McKinley (John Wickstrom) of Chicago and Scott Groh (Molly) McKinley of Lake Mills, WI; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Olga (the late Robert) Strauch of Arlington Heights and the late Mary (the late William) Rietschel, Edward (Marilyn) Groh of Naperville and Emma (the late Otto) Schwochow. He was a friend and advisor to many. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.
