The “Star Wars” trilogy finally will be released on DVD in the United States and Canada on Sept. 21, Lucasfilm Ltd. announced Monday.
International release will follow shortly thereafter.
The George Lucas opus will be available in a four-disc set, including all three movies in digitally restored and re-mastered forms, a feature-length documentary about the trilogy and never-before-seen footage from the making of the films.
None of the first three “Stars Wars” films has been seen before in the DVD format. “Star Wars: A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” have regularly dominated lists of the most requested Hollywood movies not yet released on DVD.
