A U.S. Army sergeant was charged Monday in federal court in Chicago with crossing state lines to have sex with a 15-year-old girl when he left his duty station in Italy and came to Naperville (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text).
Sgt. Maj. Michael W. Clements, 42, a 22-year veteran, had been communicating for more than a year with what turned out to be an undercover Naperville police detective.
Clements was arrested Friday inside a Naperville restaurant after he nodded at and walked toward someone posing as the underage girl and wearing a Catholic school uniform, authorities said.
A criminal complaint lodged against Clements alleged he sent to the undercover officer Webcam images of himself engaging in a sex act.
