Golden oldies
Talk about an All-Star game for the ages. Roger Clemens, 42, is likely to become the oldest player to ever start in baseball’s midsummer classic. Other, um, seasoned veterans on the rosters:
Randy Johnson, Ariz., 40
Barry Larkin, Cin., 40
Barry Bonds, S.F., 39
Kenny Rogers, Texas, 39
Tom Glavine, N.Y. Mets, 38
Moises Alou, Cubs, 38
Golden … youngies
Blue Jays prospect Aaron Hill smacked a two-run double and picked up the MVP award at the All-Star Futures game Sunday. Hill was a last-minute addition to the game, which showcases baseball’s best minor-leaguers. The U.S. team beat the World team 4-3.
All-Star voices
Serenading this year’s All-Stars will be “American Idol” winner Fantasia, who will sing the national anthem, and former “AI” winner Ruben Studdard, who will sing “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch.
Walkin’ man
Barry Bonds drew three intentional walks in San Francisco’s 3-1 win over Arizona on Saturday for a total of 71 so far, breaking his own single-season mark of 68 set in 2002.
